AKF Martial Arts of Cache Valley is a member of the American Kyuki-do Federation. Instructors Mark Allman and Kathy Allman have over 20 years of combined experience teaching martial arts and operating successful martial arts studios in Utah. The Allmans are a rare husband/wife instruction team which allows them to offer a unique learning environment that is fun, competitive and comfortable for men, women and children of all ages.
AKF Martial Arts teaches a combination of traditional disciplines with the Korean art of Taekwon-do as the foundation. (For more information on the Kyuki-do, see “History.”) In addition to learning all of the basic techniques of traditional Taekwon-do, students will be instructed in basic Judo techniques, Hapki-do manipulations, traditional weapons and practical self defense. Students who excel in judo will be invited to pursue judo rank, including instruction in traditional judo kata, after earning 1st Dan ranking in Kyuki-do.
Unlike other martial arts programs that limit the number of lessons, students of AKF Martial Arts are invited to attend all available classes appropriate to age and rank. AKF Martial Arts offers separate classes for sparring instruction for students seeking to improve and excel in sparring and for students wishing to compete in Olympic style Taekwon-do and open tournaments. AKF Martial Arts also offers private lessons for students of all age and rank in order to improve technique and prepare for tournament competition. Beginning in March 2009, a separate yoga program will be available with special rates for martial arts students.
AKF Martial Arts encourages long-term commitment through a lifestyle of fitness, discipline and peace. AKF Martial Arts offers more than karate, more than fitness. AKF Martial Arts of Cache Valley is fitness with a purpose.
