At AKF Martial Arts, we believe that Yoga is for everybody and every body. That’s why we practice and teach it the YogaFit® way. Specifically designed for fitness enthusiasts, YogaFit® features a balanced, progressive workout system that meets the evolving needs of today’s Yoga students. The YogaFit® Essence centers on personal awareness, and we adhere to principles of alignment that let you grow in your Yoga practice with sound biomechanical stability, increasing safety and improving daily function. Experienced “Yogis” will find our classes familiar because we utilize a flowing Vinyasa format, incorporating the traditional physical postures of Hatha Yoga with purposeful Pranayama breathing. The difference you’ll see in our practice is a “Three-Mountain” approach that is unique to YogaFit®, structuring each class with a warm up, a workout and a final relaxation period. No matter where your level of experience lies, our certified instructors are trained to guide you through your yoga practice in a safe, relaxing and professional environment. Beginner SeriesOur beginner series classes provide instruction in the basic poses that form the foundation of all physical yoga practice. Students are taught proper alignment and body mechanics for foundational yoga poses along with Pranayama breathing techniques and the proper flow of breath and movement. The series includes modifications for easy, intermediate, and advanced levels making this an excellent class for experienced Yogis wishing to practice foundational yoga at their own level. There are no inversions introduced in our beginner series. Mixed LevelThe Mixed-Level series provides intermediate level yoga practice that is also suitable for students practicing at any level. This mixed level series includes a shorter warm-up and longer work phase than our beginner series with emphasis on breathing and flow of breath and movement. Additional classic poses are introduced along with modifications for beginner and advanced level students. Gentle RelaxationOur Gentle Relaxation classes emphasize stretching, breathing and relaxation – a perfect way to wind down a busy week. The Gentle Relaxation sequence is a shortened class consisting of a supine warm-up, gentle work phase, and cool-down sequence with extended Savasana.
